Day 3: All You Need is Louvre

The start of day 3 began very early for some people.
In the morning Vincenzo woke up and saw that it was 8:45. The group was supposed to leave at 8am! In a panic that he had been left behind, he quickly got ready and dressed, complete with styled  hair, to head off to the Louvre. Much to his shock he realized that his roommate Jon was still in bed - also left behind! Frantically he shouted for Jon to wake up. Jon's first question was, "what time is it?" Causing Vincenzo to examine his watch. He then realized . . . it was in fact 8:45 PM. About 10 hours later everyone woke up for real this time, and in the actual morning.

We started off our day with a good healthy breakfast of New York Bagels. THE MOST IMPORTANT MEAL OF THE DAY!!!!! Then, we walked to the subway and made our way to the Louvre. We waited in line with some VERY frustrated museum employees who seemed confused with the many lines into the entrance of the Louvre. After going down into the pyramid we began our exploration of the world's largest art museum. We spent about 3 hours looking at the many beautiful works of art that we had spent the last semester studying. Many pictures were taken, many minds were blown, and many people had a good ole time. After our glorious time spent at the Louvre, we all grabbed lunch in the cafe inside the museum and ate our meals outside, were many types of birds slowly created a circle around our group which, in all honestly, was actually quite terrifying.

The Ladies at the Louvre

It's the Mona Lisa! Everyone always says it's much smaller than they thought it would be. What could they be talking about?

Basking in the glory of the Nike, before the hordes descended.

First Impression: Eh. Not as big as the one in the lobby.

What could be in there? The Plebs trying to glimpse the king's treasures.

After the Louvre we WALKED to the Garnier Opera House,  which was overwhelmingly large and ornate. While on tour that was held by the opera house we were each given a set of headphones to listen to the tour guide. Everyone loved the tour guide and all the great information that was provided. It was especially interesting that many of the aspects of the book The Phantom of the Opera were actually based on true events and locations within the opera house.

The Garnier Opera House in all it's glory!

Garnier's Grand Staircase

Box No. 5 - The Phontom reserved box. Janie REALLY wanted to see inside, so Kristiana shone some light on the situation.

We then crossed the street to Gallerias Lafayette. This beautiful building consists of many high-end stores such as: Channel, Gucci, Prada, etc. Although those stores were not remotely in our price range, on the very top level there were many touristy stores that were in the our price range. After browsing around for souvenirs, we made our way to the metro.

We took the metro to, um, somewhere. We made our way to a cute typical Parisian restaurant and had a very delicious dinner. At dinner we talked about our favorite thing we saw and also something that surprised us. After reminiscing about our day, we headed back to our cute little AirBNB. Where I, Kristiana, am writing this blog post, trying to stay awake. Good luck editing this Amy and Janie ;).
